What should a New Zealand painting quote include?
Price preparation, access and coats as separate lines rather than quoting a single figure per room or per square metre, then show 15% GST separately with your NZBN and IRD GST number. Say how many coats you have allowed and over what primer, because "two coats" over bare weatherboard and over sound existing paint are different jobs. On exterior work state the access method and its duration — scaffold hire is charged by the week and is often the single largest line — and list what you are excluding: rotten timber replacement, lead paint containment, and any repaint of surfaces you have not inspected. Do I need scaffolding to paint a house in New Zealand, and who pays for it?
